My friend Deb is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever had the privilege of watching in action. When I think of her, the word resilience practically lights up in neon. She’s faced more obstacles than most, and every single time, she powers through — inspiring everyone around her.
This is the same woman who got badly (and I mean very badly) injured during a Spartan Race… and still refused to quit until she was physically forced to stop. That’s Deb.
We’ve traveled together too — surviving toaster mishaps and a rooster alarm clock in Ottawa, wandering a Tennessee Walmart at 11 p.m., and enduring truly bizarre roommate behaviour in a Vancouver hotel. If you count the links in this necklace, you might get close to the number of adventures we’ve had.
And that gold disk? It’s the medal she would have won at the Spartan Race Worlds if not for that brutal injury.
