This past Christmas, the family took a trip to Hawaii. Of course it was beautiful, except for one bit. The drive through Lahaina on Maui.
You may remember, a couple years ago, this entire area was on fire. Many, many homes and businesses were destroyed, many of them generationally owned. It was tragic from a human and a historic point of view.
Not much has been rebuilt yet. Too much red tape and politics, according to the Uber driver.
I decided to make something beautiful to remember how Lahaina used to be, and also to look forward to the someday when it is either gone back to nature, or rebuilt.
