I hadn't planned on making anything new this week, but then, some beauty showed up and blew my brains out.
I've been waitng for something to appear to be good enough to use for one of my favourite places in the world. I'm lucky that this place is only one kilometre from my home - Main Street Unionville.
I've lived here since November 2004. I had a little baby boy, and was craving outdoor walks and space to play with him. It was a good move.
Over the years, I have spent countless hours on Main Street Unionville. I had two jobs on the street, I loved both of them.
The curling club is my second home, where we have all spent playing the game, volunteering, and most importantly, making friends.
My kids went to school on this street from Kindergarten to Grade 12. A big milestone was being allowed to go to Main Street to hang out with their friends.
Crosby Arena saw many skating practices and performances for my daughter. The baseball diamonds behind it were the site of so many games for both my kids and ME. Going for ice cream after baseball at the Old Firehall was a special treat. Not to mention, the walk home after my own games was a highlight of summer for me.
The bandstand was the venue for weekly outdoor yoga classes on Sunday mornings in the summer. Also the venue for outdoor concerts on Thursday nights. Cover bands that were all really good! Particularly the night of the Bee Gees cover band...they really needed to close the street because there were so many people. The mood that night was one of joy nostalgia, and pure 70s.
A highlight of my entire life was the 2019 Gilmore Girls Fan Fest which took place on the street, because the pilot episode was filmed there. One thousand lovely people from all over the world showed up. It was magical.
