Marguerite Earrings
When I was a 19 year old, very shy little thing, I was in my first year at university. First week, I was sitting in Sociology 100 waiting for it to start. Some blonde girl sat beside me.
Next thing I know, the prof announces that we have to do one of those annoying "let's get to know each other" games, the one where you have to be partners with someone you don't know, and talk to them for five minutes. You're supposed to find three things you have in common. Fortunately, the blonde girl next to me, said, "Want to be partners?" I was most grateful that she did that because there was no way in hell I was going to approach a stranger in the class.
The three things we had in common? Yes, of course I remember! We both liked cats, we were both from Toronto, and, the really crazy one is that we discovered we were born on the exact same day!!
From that day on, we suffered through Sociology together, and were friends throughout university and beyond. She was a funny girl with lots of energy, and she was always nice to me. Turned out that Iris was actually her middle name, her first name was Marguerite, as in the daisy, but no one called her that.
Fast forward a few years, and the shocking news arrived that Iris had been killed in a car accident in Stouffville. One of the saddest days ever.
Here's the Marguerite Earrings. I think Iris would have worn these!
Sterling silver, silver plate.
