Orkney Earrings

$40.00

Peter Spence, my ancestor, came to Canada from Orkney, Scotland in 1800. He worked as a voyager for the Hudson’s Bay Company, travelling all over Northern Ontario. He married an Indigenous woman, and now, two hundred years later, here we are — a whole family tree grown from that unlikely crossing of worlds.

I’m convinced this is where my love of winter comes from.

And I often wonder: did Peter ever curl on a frozen loch in Scotland… or on some lonely sheet of ice in Canada? It feels possible — maybe even likely.

Presenting: The Peter Spence Necklace.

Treat yourself — honour a legacy of winter, wanderlust, and the quiet poetry of the North
