The first time I tried yoga, I was in my 20s — not overweight, just impressively out of shape. It was one of the hardest things I’d ever done, and I left wondering how this was popular.

Attempt number three was the game‑changer. A local teacher taught classes in her basement, and it was magic. I went every week and floated out of her house feeling like a million bucks — flexible, calm, and totally joyful.
Since then, I’ve practiced everywhere, even earning a Level One Instructor certification. I taught a few classes too, until my chronic back issues tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Andrea, sit down.”
