One of my more memorable family vacations while growing up was taking the Polar Bear Express to Moosonee. If you're not familiar with this train, it runs between Cochrane Ontario to Moosonee. Not to be confused with the Polar Express, that's a whole different thing.
Then we took a water taxi to Moose Factory. A water taxi that was just a guy and his tiny motorboat. I remember being quite terrified on this part of journey, the water was choppy, freezing, and a deathly grey.
Why were we doing this? To look at gravestones of course! What else on earth would one take a five year old to do on vacation? I mean really.
This was during my Dad's genealogy phase. We were up there looking for my ancestors grave, Peter Spence and any others that resulted from his time there. I don't recall if Dad found the grave in question - Pat, Caryn, David? Any thoughts?
