I was born in the 1970s in Montreal. Snow was common and abundant in the winter. A few times per winter, there would be enough snow to make a snow day a real possibility. I could hear the crackle of the radio in our cozy kitchen, my mother listening intently to hear the list of school closures for the day. I would be sitting there fingers crossed to hear the name of my school. No doubt my mother was hoping for the opposite.
On those rare occasions when my school was closed...WOW! What a glorious feeling of unexpected freedom and fun in the snow! Absolutely joy
